Luke Green, a senior defenseman for Austin High School, suffered a spinal injury last week in a hockey game against New Ulm. Green might take encouragement from the recovery of Ben Peyton, the Edina hockey player who suffered a broken neck in a midget A game in December 1996.

Peyton, now 27, graduated from St. Thomas with a degree in economics. He works for J.B. Collins, a commercial real estate firm. He wears a brace on his left leg, walks with a cane and has some left-side impairment. He also swings a golf club, is a duck hunter and participated in a book with local author Peter Rennebohm, titled, "Be Not Afraid: Ben Peyton's Story."
